Podcast with Dr. Mike T Nelson

Dr. Mike T. Nelson has spent 18 years of his life learning how the human body works, specifically focusing on how to properly condition it to burn fat and become stronger, more flexible, and healthier.

He's has a PhD in Exercise Physiology, a BA in Natural Science, and an MS in Biomechanics.

He's an adjunct professor and a member of the American College of Sports Medicine.

In this podcast, Mike and I discussed HRV (Heart rate variability)

1.How is the nervous system effected by stress both from training and everyday life?

2.What is HRV?

3.How to you use it in regards to your training and what devices can you use?

4.What role does cortisol have on stress and the nervous system?

5.Adequate sleep, solid nutrition and managing your stress levels are obviously things that can help, but do you have any other recommendations that can help improve recovery?

Juma Iraki is a certified Personal Trainer and holds a Bachelor degree in Nutrition Sciences. He has also completed the IOC Diploma in Sports Nutrition through the International Olympic Committee and is currently doing his Masters degree in Sports Nutrition at The University of Stirling.

He is the CEO of Iraki Nutrition AS and Head of Nutrition at AFPT where he lectures in Sports Nutrition. He also works as a business consultant for Proteinfabrikken in Norway and as a sports nutritionist for the National Judo Federation in Norway.
